Finding Our Way Home Book Review and Giveaway

One of the things I love about writing reviews is that I come across music, movies, and books that I never would have had the chance to get. To be honest it's more like I would have given them a chance. Finding Our Way Home by Charlene Ann Baumbich is a book that I would have just skipped over as I browsed the titles on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Thankfully, like Harriet Beamer Takes the Bus, I gave the book a shot and I am so blessed that I did.

The Story Synopsis

Sasha Davis, a world renowned ballerina, has returned to her hometown to recuperate from a career ending injury. After alienating everyone from her former life, Sasha hires local girl Evelyn Burt to move in and help take care of her. As the two different ladies go through the struggles in life the both learn valuable lessons. They learn how much the need each other as well as the others they may have shut out, intentionally or not.

The Review

As simple as the story may sound, it has a lot of depths and layers. As the point-of-view shifts between Sasha and Evelyn, we are shown their character and why the need each other. It's easy to see yourself in both of them, both the good and the bad. Plus, it's a really well crafted story making you care about the cranky dancer and the aloof young lady.

Baumbich pays great attention to detail, slipping you into the mindset of a dancer but getting too bogged down. She gives enough information to make you feel that you are in the studio or on the stage. Similarly she gets into the mind of Evelyn as she goes through the ups and downs of life and love.

Through their trials and tribulations we are shown that we really do need others to help us. And most importantly, God's grace is sufficient to take us through anything life might throw at us.

  1. Sometimes we find something we need where we aren't looking for it. That is indeed a blessing.
