My Own Server 2008 R2 Virtualization Test Box

I came back from vacation today and talked with my boss about going to training for the 70-659 exam. We both agreed that using the last of our training vouchers didn't make sense for this. I really believe that I can study on my own and pass the test. If I do happen to fail it, it didn't cost us anything and I still learned a lot of new stuff.

If I do happen to fail this test, I'll get one more shot at TechEd. I'll have to pay for it, but it might be worth it. There'll be an Exam Cram and I will be able to talk to people there and get some tips. One other reason I'm looking forward to TechEd 2012.

What I do get to do is setup my own little test domain. Today I downloaded a trial version of Server 2008 R2 and started installing on one of our Dell Precisions. This may sound stupid, but I didn't realize how long it would take to download.

I have Server 2008 Enterprise R2 loaded and tomorrow I plan to get Server 2008 R2 Core on another computer. I still have to tweak the first one, setup Hyper-V and make sure I have everything ready to go. It's been fun learning this stuff and I can't wait to dig into the meat of virtualization.

I'm also going to be continuously looking through the internet for information on Hyper-V and everything related to this test. I'll post some links when I come across something good. I already have to update my early post with links.

As always, if you have any tips or have questions I may able to help with, send me an email or leave a comment.
